Financial freedom doesn’t mean buying a yacht.

For most people, it means sleeping well at night. The meaning of wealth changes as we get older. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Ask a twenty-year-old what financial freedom means and you may hear words like luxury, cars, expensive holidays or early retirement. Ask a sixty-five-year-old and the answer is often very different. Financial freedom usually means:

  • Knowing the bills can be paid.
  • Helping children if needed.
  • Supporting grandchildren.
  • Travelling without financial stress.
  • Sleeping well at night.
  • Having choices.

Over the years I’ve learned that wealth isn’t measured by account balances alone.

It’s measured by peace of mind.

Some people with significant wealth still worry constantly.

Others with much less feel completely secure.

The difference is often clarity.

When people understand where they stand financially, where they are heading and what opportunities are available to them, confidence grows. Financial freedom isn’t really about money. It’s about creating the ability to live life on your terms. And ultimately, that’s what good financial planning should help people achieve
