Turning 40 has a way of making you pause.

This month, I celebrated a joint 40th with my wife, Sarah. We’ve been married nearly 18 years, and the room was filled with our three girls, our extended families (mine of five children, Sarah’s of ten), and friends who have been part of my life since childhood. It was one of those rare moments where you feel the weight of life’s challenges and the richness of life’s blessings all at once.

Like many of you, there have been seasons in my life that tested me deeply. We’ve lost loved ones. We’ve navigated crossroads. And years ago, when our daughter Matilda needed open‑heart surgery at just three weeks old, we learnt a lot about strength, perspective, and gratitude. Those experiences shape you forever — they sharpen what truly matters.

And in that room at our birthday celebration, surrounded by the people who’ve walked life with us, I was reminded once again why family, purpose, and legacy sit at the heart of everything we do.

A Personal Milestone That Ties Back to My Work

As I reflected on the last 40 years, I realised how closely these themes of family, resilience, and gratitude align with why I do the work I do.

For retirees and pre‑retirees, transitioning into the next chapter of life can bring its own mix of excitement and uncertainty. It’s a major life event — not unlike the milestones we celebrate in our personal lives — and it deserves clarity, care, and confidence.

My purpose as a financial planner is simple:
to help you make wise financial decisions so you can retire with confidence, enjoy the time you have with the people who matter most, and focus on your life’s legacy rather than worrying about money.

Every plan we build, every portfolio we manage, and every conversation we have is designed to make your transition into retirement as smooth and supported as possible. It’s long‑term work — and it means the world to me to walk alongside clients over many years, soon to be decades, helping them reach a stage of life where they can truly enjoy the rewards of their hard work.

Gratitude for the Work — and for You

Turning 40 reminded me just how grateful I am for the purpose I’ve found in this profession. It’s not just numbers and strategies. It’s the trust you place in us. It’s the conversations about your families, your goals, your fears, and your hopes for the future. It’s being part of your life as you prepare for one of the most meaningful transitions you’ll ever make.

I am abundantly grateful — for my family, for the journey so far, and for the clients who allow me to play a small role in helping them build a future they can feel proud of.

Thank you for your trust, your openness, and your ongoing partnership. Here’s to the next chapter — for all of us.
